BACK TO SCHOOL, BACK TO YOU
Dang. I went ahead and used that cliche phrase "Back to School, Back to YOU". Even though I promised myself I wouldn't. But sometimes, you just need to be blunt to break through.
New Jersey and NYC schools are back in session this week. Some Moms are sad to see the action packed summer end, and to see their littlest companions board those school buses. For other Moms, it's a welcome sense of structure and relief when classes start.
To demonstrate this story, I am proud to show off this amazing Mama, who came to see me with a daring new outlook, a new job, a new body after baby weight loss, and overall -- just a new beginning to amazing things ahead in her "new year".

But for Moms everywhere, the start of school signals the time for a MOM RESET.
In many ways, when you are a parent, the start of a new school year is akin to New Year's Eve. It is a chance to make new resolutions for the kids, but also for yourself. How will you organize? What is needed to make it all run smoothly? What logistics need to be in place? (And lastly...OMG, How am I going to do all this?!)

Yes it is a new beginning for them, but this is a new beginning for you, too. When you are taking care of things for everyone in the household, the first casualty of busy-ness is often your INNER SELF. Who will care for her? How will she co exist in the myriad of everyday life?

This is a time for self permission. A time to coddle yourself while school is in session. And, it is a time to give yourself a much needed boost, to improve your outlook on this "new year".
At school pickup, at school dropoff, at birthday parties, after-school activities...Moms often tell me how much they'd LOVE to come to the studio and do a session. They tell me it's on their wish list or their "one day". I am the BAD MOM (yes like the movie), often pushing them to do things outside their comfort zone.
Why? Because someone has to look out for MOM. (and BTW, in many cases, it is also DAD... a shout out to those amazing stay at home dads out there doing their thing every day. I will sound like the devil on your shoulder, and in some cases, I admit that I have to be. Because women simply don't allow themselves the things they should be doing to self-care.
But I am here to push you, Mama.
To help you remember YOU.
To give you permission to pamper.
To reassure you that you will look AMAZING and FEEL INCREDIBLE. (and it manifests through art).
To help you realize your true self still exists, whether she is buried deep or not.
