Apr 29 HER FRIEND DARED HER TO DO A BOUDOIR SESSION...AND HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED

…challenge you.
…help you push your limits.
…allow you to step outside yourself.
…want for you to see the very best version of you; (the amazing one THEY see in you)

Personally, I so am very blessed in my life to have so many friends like this. And in this life, it is so important to me that I be that kind of friend to people I love, too.

But the rarest, hardest kind of love is the unconditional love one provides is to oneself. It is a learned behavior and usually born out of our darker moments. And, as the great Ernest Hemingway once said, it’s within these cracks … “that’s how the light gets in.”

I wax on poetically, but recently some of my friends have reminded of this idea. It seemed so timely to share this client’s story, too as an prime example. (and in pictures!)

Sometimes, it’s about the DARE. The fearless moment, to take it.
The audacity to just feel what you need to. And sometimes, it takes a little help from a friend.

Most people think you have to be daring to go through a boudoir photo shoot, which is kind of an illusion, actually. It’s strangely comforting to go through this process. But to get there, sometimes, it actually just starts with a DARE.

My beautiful client, Mrs. K, was recipient of such a dare at a time in her life when she felt less than her very best. Don’t get me wrong — Mrs. K is NO fragile flower. She is powerful, successful, assertive, decisive, funny and knows what she wants.

BUT — she did not feel her best self. She knows who she is, and wasn’t feeling or remembering that person very well after her second child was born. Accepting a friend’s dare became a remedy.

She’s definitely a fearless kind of woman, and rocked her session. But I won’t lie… she was very fearful to come back and view the photos. After much convincing how spectacular she looked, she reluctantly came back for a much-delayed visit to select her images/album. And let me tell you — she was BLOWN. AWAY. AT. HERSELF.
…Her strength.
…Her power.
…Her body.
…Her “imperfections” that were actually just…perfect.
…Her reminder of who she IS. Not Mom, not wife, HER.

“A girlfriend challenged me to do a session and, not one to back down from my word, I followed through. It was out of character for me, I had given birth under just a year ago, and wasn’t feeling my best.

BUT, I wanted to capture myself being free, being comfortable with my body, so I could look back and reflect and see all the wonderful parts of my body that are unique to me. I wanted to step outside my comfort zone!
