LOSE WEIGHT BY A BOUDOIR SHOOT?
Hint... It's not how you think.
I have been a boudoir photographer in New Jersey and NYC for almost a decade now. With that, comes the unique experience of consistently witnessing the brutality that we as women place upon ourselves. Over time, you realize that it is not a behavior limited to plus size boudoir sessions... but rather among of all shapes and sizes.
In fact, it is sometimes the women who have the most seemingly perfect faces and bodies who tend to demonstrate the most insecurities.
I am really, really good at empathizing with the emotions of my clients. It's not because I am some kind of guru...
It is because I have been ALL of these women at one point or another.
Too big here.
Too small there.
It is really, really heavy to carry around all these insecurities. At times, I think we can feel like we are carrying a huge weight.
I don't mean physical weight (and this means you too, Size 2 Lady...),
...But rather the emotional weight that comes with our lifelong programmed self-loathing dialogue. We are carrying the burdens placed upon us, perhaps "gifted" to you by your mother or father; your sister; an old boyfriend; your husband; a magazine cover; a competitive "friend"; a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue; a lingerie catalog; ...The list could go on for days.
The burden is very real, and it is the burden of a whole other person. It is not your burden to carry. It is your right to set FREE.
So what I want to talk about... is NOT about Losing weight FOR your boudoir session, but instead perhaps BECAUSE OF IT.
When you set aside a day, to yourself, you are losing that weight.
When you choose to shed inhibitions and let someone else "SEE" you, you are losing the weight.
When you allow me to materialize your most beautiful features, you are shedding that weight.
When you enable yourself to indulge in what you deserve, you are losing that weight.
When you refuse to accept judgements of others, you are dropping that weight.
Science proves this to be true. I looked it up. Twice.
Sometimes a client will delay booking a boudoir session because she worries that she won't like the images because of these hangups. I promise that she will. NOT because I am a cocky boudoir photographer...But because I choose to see her BEST self.
I know how to photograph the BEST self features. It is not about Photoshop magic. It is just principles of posing, light and composition.
And, one simple mathematical principle:
The sum is always greater than its parts.
Come shed some weight with me.
