A FIRST RESPONDER TAKES A BOUDOIR ‘SPA DAY FOR THE SOUL’

Women come from all over the country to work with us at the Life As Fine Art studio in Red Bank, NJ. They also come from all walks of life, all relationship statuses, and of all professions.
Recently, a GORGEOUS woman, a first responder (a special breed in herself), looking for a break from the everyday life of handling crises. Instead, we created a spa day for her soul. In a profession where she’s mostly surrounded by men at the station, she had a luxurious afternoon to explore her girly side — complete with exquisite lace, sexy garter belts, and of course, designer heels.
She was so beautiful, tall, graceful, humble— truly just a natural at this after I guided her through the posing and ideas. I think she even surprised herself!
We are so proud of the work she does on a daily basis as a female first responder in a very tough and physically demanding job. But we are especially proud of how she totally ‘let go’ to do something special and empowering for herself.
Here’s what she had to say…
“Working in public safety, I am a uniformed public servant unable to express my femininity on a daily basis. I love the work that I do, but it is easy to lose sight of the soft, sexy side hidden deep within. I thought this would be an interesting journey to embark on. This shoot became a goal of mine: a goal to workout, a goal to eat better, a goal to treat myself to beautiful lingerie and a goal to embrace body positivity.”
“I booked 3 months in advance and I was able to accomplish all of those things. Mental, physical, and emotional preparation towards a more evolved version of myself were set into play.”
“The whole process with Cate before the shoot was professional, easy and transparent. I didn’t realize how transformative this experience and process would be and I will be forever grateful.”
“This was totally empowering. Although I’ve maintained a confident demeanor in other aspects of my life, I was incredibly nervous about doing my own boudoir shoot. I’m a bit awkward, blunt, and by no means graceful.” (editor’s note: UMMMMM? Say What? ;)
“How am I going to pose without looking like the jolly green giant? I can’t even walk in heels.”, I thought to myself. Leaving Cate’s studio, I felt sexy and immediately more comfortable and confident in the areas in which I thought I was lacking. I WAS the poised, feminine and graceful being I didn’t think I was capable of. “
“Her direction and explanation of natural movement made perfect sense and was easy to follow. “Posing 101” will help me for every picture I am ever in again, lol!”
“I’ve been following Cate’s work on social media for years now. Her use of natural light and elegant, neutral sets are some of the aspects I love about her work. Prior to seeing Cate’s work I wasn’t too familiar with boudoir photography, and after much research, it is clear her work does not compare to anyone. Class and elegance radiate through her images. I found some other photographers to be “fetishy” and cheap looking. If I wasn’t to work with Cate, I don’t think I would be interested in doing a shoot at all. I think “Life as Fine Art” is such a perfect description of the experience and masterpieces she produces.”
Is there anything you would have done differently?
“I want to say that I would have liked to do this sooner, but this came at such a perfect time in my life. 25 is such a weird age. This definitely negated any quarter life crisis that I thought I would have lol. I am SO happy with the beautiful images that I wouldn’t change a thing.”
